Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations and Change, the Senior HR Policy Officer will develop and maintain our people policies and procedures which provide guidance to staff on a range of employment issues. You will ensure policies and procedures support the University’s strategy, enhance the employer brand and foster a culture trust, fairness and inclusion.
You will be responsible for maintaining people policies and procedures to ensure they comply with new and existing legislation and case law. You will also help ensure our policies and procedures remain fit for purpose and reflect the latest developments in effective people management.
In addition, you will support HR colleagues by providing expert HR policy interpretation relating to complicated and/or contentious matters. To be successful in this role, you will have a deep understanding of employment law and the latest developments in effective people management.
You will be able to demonstrate experience and capabilities in policy research, development, and implementation. You will have excellent verbal and written communication. You will be responsive to changes in employment law, have the ability to work to tight deadlines and be able to plan and prioritise your work effectively. You will be a self-starter and able to work autonomously.
We are currently working remotely but when lockdown restrictions are lifted, the successful candidate will either be based at our Avery Hill campus or will work from home and would need to be able to travel into London regularly (e.g. twice a month). We are able and keen to offer flexible working options.
