M34Impact Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Materials Science and Engineering

Based within the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, you will be part of an expansion of our world-leading Multi-Disciplinary and Multi-Scale Modelling team.

Joining the Expanding Excellence in England (E3) funded, M34Impact programme you will contribute to tackling major societal challenges affecting the environment, quality of life, safety, security, and the economy.  

In this role you will specifically strengthen the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) theme of M34Impact, bringing a capacity to conduct high quality research in the areas of Materials Science, Advanced Manufacturing, Energy, Recycling and Sustainability. In its nature, the role involves a highly collegiate approach and close collaboration with the other M34Impact themes of Safety and Security, and Digital Cities. You will also be expected to utilise or support the development and enhancement of our multi-scale multi-physics suite of software, and their deployment on the university HPC & GPU based system. 

The position is primarily research and enterprise, but there would be a contribution of up to 20% to teaching, including development and delivery of an numerical modelling focussed Masters and PhD student supervision. 

You will have a PhD in a related field and have experience in conducting research in a relevant subject, and a strong track record of publication in peer reviewed, international journals. A demonstrable track of successful grant acquisition as PI or Co-Investigator is highly desirable.  

You will also be expected to generate and to maintain, strong stakeholder relationships at regional, national and international level.
