Information technology is used extensively to support delivery of all the Drill Hall Library Services.</p><p>To enhance our excellent standard of service to our users we are now seeking to appoint a highly motivated Customer Support Assistant to join our existing team. This post will support our library users in a friendly, efficient, fair, and effective manner as well as being the front of house first point of contact for all library queries and at the forefront of the operation of our library systems, book circulation and online library services.</p><p id="isPasted">The postholder will be able to greet library users with a smile that will make each visitor feel at ease when they are welcomed upon arrival. As each day is varied, you&rsquo;ll need to think and react quickly as library users often want you to assist them finding a book, basic IT support or use of printers. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Good listening skills are essential to assist students with their needs and signpost them to the most suitable help or escalate when necessary. To be ever vigilant and recognise when someone needs help or to spot any potential health and safety or behavioural issues within the library environment. To make a positive impact on a student&rsquo;s library experience. As a team player to help your colleagues where needed to ensure the delivery of an excellent library support service. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>A qualification in libraries or Higher Education is not essential but a background in customer service, excellent timekeeping and an approachable and friendly nature is. You will also need to bring patience and a sense of humour.             <p><strong>The Role</strong></p><p>In this role you will be the first point of contact for students struggling with academic or personal issues or who have informal complaints. You will provide pastoral support, resolve issues within your control, and signpost students where appropriate to other sources of support, including via the Digital Student Centre and to academic support via Academic Tutors or Programme Leaders. You will coordinate and maintain student support through initiatives like short appointments, drop-in sessions, online support, and follow-up. Within your faculty team, you will work to ensure continuity of support to all faculty students, identify enhancements to the service, and assist with key university processes as required.&nbsp;</p><p>Duties and responsibilities will typically include working as part of a team to:&nbsp;</p><ul type="disc"><li>Provide student pastoral support, as part of a faculty team, signposting to other services where appropriate and following up to ensure satisfactory resolution.&nbsp;</li><li>Identify improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of the Faculty Student Advisor Service and take a lead in implementing these.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist when required with key University wide processes as required for example, clearing, enrolment and graduation.&nbsp;</li><li>Use University systems, to ensure informal complaints are logged and followed up to satisfactory resolution.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>This hybrid role is primarily based on the <a href="https://www.gre.ac.uk/about-us/campus/greenwich" id="isPasted">Greenwich Campus</a>; however, as the Faculty operates across all three University of Greenwich campuses, regular travel to Medway and Avery Hill will also be required.</p><p id="isPasted"><strong>Why Choose Us? &nbsp; &nbsp;</strong></p><p>The University has been established for over 125 years and is an exciting and rewarding place to work.             <p><strong>Background</strong></p><p>The School of Health Sciences is part of a highly successful and vibrant faculty, frequently commended for our partnership working across the health and social care sector. Supported by our simulation strategy and resources, the school delivers a range of undergraduate and post graduate courses leading to registration in allied healthcare, nursing and midwifery professions. The University has invested over &pound;8 million in the development of a state-of-the-art simulation centre, which further enhances our record of teaching, research and knowledge exchange innovation. We also have a wide portfolio of post qualifying provision including a MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. The school currently runs a successful undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) adult nursing programme in its portfolio and are looking to appoint an experienced adult nursing educator/s.</p><p><strong>The Post&nbsp;</strong></p><p>The post holder/s will work with our adult nursing team and employers to deliver our UG/PG adult nursing programme (including an apprenticeship offer). The programme has been designed collaboratively with key stakeholders; the post holder will work closely with our stakeholders on a continuing basis. &nbsp;You will also have opportunity to participate in research and knowledge exchange activities coordinated by the Faculty&rsquo;s Institute of Lifecourse Development (ILD). The ILD brings together researchers and practitioners from Health, Education and Human Sciences to tackle a range of lifecourse related issues, and has been instrumental in our recent success in the 2021 REF.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>The Person&nbsp;</strong></p><p>You will be an experienced adult nurse with a background in education and/or research to teach across our pre-registration programmes. This is a great opportunity for an individual who has ambition to develop as a nurse educator and academic, having developed teaching and assessing skills through a mentorship/practice assessor role or equivalent. You will have a passion for education, thrive on seeing students succeed, have ambition and an inquiring mind. You will have the opportunity to complete a PGCHE and progress through our GOLD framework to achieve HEA senior fellowship, if required, as well as contribute to faculty wide research and enterprise activities.
