The University of Greenwich is looking for a suitably experienced, talented and enthusiastic person to take on the newly created post of Systems Librarian. We moved to the SirsiDynix Library management system in July.

This move to a new LMS is an exceptional project as the University of Greenwich is working in collaboration with the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University in implementing a Unified Library Management System. We have a ten year history of working collaboratively on the Medway campus, Chatham, Kent where the three Universities share a campus and the Drill Hall Library which serves the students from all three Universities. Moving to a shared LMS has potential of providing shared services and new processes in the future.

The Systems Librarian will support, maintain and develop the library information systems that support the activities and services of the University of Greenwich student, staff and research communities.

The student experience is central to all we do, the post holder will work closely with colleagues from Users Services, Circulation, E-Resources and Acquisitions and Bibliographic teams in order to ensure that our systems are customer-focused and responsive to user needs. Working with the Drill Hall will ensure the Medway campus student experience is a priority, because of this the successful candidate must be prepared to work part of the week on the Medway campus, building a relationship with colleagues from the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University.  It is envisaged that two days will be based in the Drill Hall Library and three days a week in the award winning Stockwell Street Library on the Greenwich Campus.

To succeed in this role, you will have experience managing and supporting specialist library systems, you will have experience of working in an academic library service and ideally experience of working within a shared or collaborative environment. You will have an awareness of current issues and future developments in library standards along with web and librarianship regulatory and legal issues as information security is of the highest importance.

An ability to explain and demonstrate concepts, ideas and technologies to a broad audience both verbally and in writing is essential as is training colleagues in the use of the system.
