The Connected Cities Research Group is a newly formed group within the Business School focusing on interdisciplinary research in collaboration with the Future Cities initiative of the University of Greenwich. 

Located at the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Royal Borough of Greenwich which has already launched its smart city strategy, it offers the opportunity to research diverse topics such as ICT for transport or urban well-being, whilst working at one of the grandest University settings of the world. 

Role

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to support the WISE-ACT Chair (Wider Impacts and Scenario Evaluation of Autonomous and Connected Transport). This is a four-year COST Action with participants from 28 countries across Europe including both academics and practitioners. The successful candidate will assist the Chair in meeting both research and administrative requirements in the UK and abroad, so some travel may be required.

Candidates must have a postgraduate degree in social sciences (e.g. business, economics, sociology, urban planning, public policy) and evidence of research interest about the wider impacts of autonomous vehicles (AVs). Research activities will include survey design, data analysis and stakeholder interviews. Support activities will include administration and co-ordination of this Action under the direction of the Chair, international participants and the COST Association. The successful candidate should also hold the ability to communicate effectively in spoken English about the activities of this Action, and write effectively for both academic and non-expert audiences. The ability to maintain an effective mode of record keeping throughout this Action, work effectively as part of an international team and contribute in academic publications are essential.

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who are confident in quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, have experience in organising international workshops, can manage web and social media and are able to speak foreign languages.
